Silesian University is dynamically developing and actively cooperates with both Czech and foreign universities.

  • In 1990, the Faculty of Philosophy was founded in Opava and the Faculty of Trade and Business in Karviná. In 1991, both faculties were merged and thus the Silesian University in Opava was formed.
  • Today, the educational process is based on a solid material and technical base.
  • The University is a member of the European Association of Universities and cooperates with a number of foreign universities.
  • Research activities are actively carried out in Opava and Karviná, as evidenced by the journalistic activity of the University staff and the international scientific conferences regularly organized here.

The entrance exam takes place in writing. The exam is the same for all study programs. For Bachelor’s degree programs—a written Learning Prerequisites Test, including questions in economics, social studies, and mathematics. For Master’s degree programs—a written Learning Prerequisites Test within the scope of the Bachelor’s degree program in economics, knowledge on microeconomics, macroeconomics, mathematics, and statistics is tested.
