One of the great things about living and learning in the Czech Republic is the amazing public transport system that we have here.

Whether you’re exploring the city you live in, or getting out and finding out more of what the country has to offer, there is no end of options for you to do so.

In any of the larger cities, you’ll find public transport to be frequent, punctual, clean and safe, with a variety of different options available to get you from A to B.

Whilst many transport maps in other countries can be complicated and confusing, in Czech cities, everything is laid out logically with clear signposting to make the system easy to understand even to visitors.

On-board displays and announcements make it even easier to make sure you know where you’re going and to help avoid missing your stop, and different types of transport are well integrated with each other, so you can skip between buses, trains, metros and trams as much as you wish.

Another great benefit of our transport system is the price. Whilst rates have increased over the last few years, our system is still much cheaper than other European counterparts, and you can usually pick up a one-way transport ticket for around 1 euro. There are also daily, weekly, monthly or yearly options for people who are travelling around more often, with huge discounts available the longer you choose.

In addition to public transport, there are also a range of reliable and trustworthy taxi services which operate in each of the cities. We do advise that you stick to using registered taxis (such as Profi Taxi and City Taxi) and agree your price upfront to avoid being overcharged for your journey.

If you wish to travel outside of your local area, there are great connections between almost all of the cities within the Czech Republic. For example, you can travel by train from Prague to Brno in about 2.5 hours, for as little as 4 euros!

Ideally located in the centre of Europe, opportunities are also vast for visiting other countries, with great options available by train or air.

We always advise that you plan your journey well in advance to make sure you know where you’re going and what times your chosen transport options should arrive and leave.

We hope you enjoy exploring our beautiful country! If you’d like to find out more, do not hesitate to get in touch.
