Admission to Charles University

Who can benefit from this programme?

Charles University provides a quality and comprehensive liberal arts education. The Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Social Sciences are the most popular with applicants. The most popular specialities are Political Science, Media, Sociology, Aesthetics and Psychology. You can study almost any foreign language at Charles University. If you want to prepare for your exams in a thoughtful, stress-free way and be sure of success, the Charles University Admission Programme is the right choice.

What is included in the preparation programme?

The programme includes a Czech language course up to CEFR level B2 with basic economic vocabulary (870 hours) and a specialised exam preparation course (150 hours). From November, intensive preparation for the OSP SCIO national comparative examination and the ZSV SCIO national examination in the basics of social sciences will be added to the Czech language classes. Lessons on Czech and European history are also included in the programme.

Specialised training consists of three courses: general prerequisites for OSP SCIO, basics of social sciences, English for humanities.

Where can I go if I complete the programme?

The programme "Admission to Charles University" allows you to prepare effectively for the exams and easily enter the Faculty of Philosophy, Law, Humanities or Social Sciences of Charles University, as well as other similar universities with similar entrance exams.

Teaching methods

Depending on the faculty and speciality, you have to pass the national comparative examination of the ZSV SCIO Fundamentals of Social Sciences or the internal examination of the faculty. The difficulty for foreign applicants is the lack of knowledge of Czech history and culture, the political system, and the economic situation in the country. In CIS schools, the social studies programme does not contain many topics that are studied in Czech schools. To enter a humanities speciality, you need to master a large amount of material on political science, sociology, economics, philosophy and history.

The Charles University Admission Programme includes a review of typical exams. Students study topics previously unfamiliar to them and actively work with social science literature.

Preparation for the General Prerequisites Test involves in-depth study of Czech vocabulary, development of logical thinking, and improvement of reading and numeracy skills.

Briefly about the teachers

Students are prepared for the entrance exams by experienced teachers from prestigious Prague grammar schools with extensive experience in the pre-university preparation of foreign applicants.

Czech language classes are taught by linguists and native speakers. Many of them have doctoral degrees and teach at universities in the Czech Republic.

Passed the programme = Got into university

Tran Van Vien, 20 years old, Ho Chi Minh City.

"I am very fond of foreign languages, so I decided to apply to the Philosophy Department of Charles University. It is the most respected university in the Czech Republic, so I didn't even think about choosing something else. Before enrolling, I had already lived in the country for a year, but I never learnt the language on my own, as we speak only Vietnamese at home. Thank you to the GoStudy teachers for believing in me and helping me fulfil my dream!"
