Veterinární a farmaceutická univerzita Brno

The University of Veterinary and Pharmaceuticals Science Brno is the only university in the Czech Republic specializing in veterinary medicine, veterinary hygiene and ecology, and just one of two higher education institutions teaching pharmaceutical science (there is also a Faculty of Pharmacy at Charles University).

The university campus is unique. It combines buildings built in the last century with modern well-equipped premises. The large park adds atmosphere to the campus. The university campus also features a greenhouse and botanical gardens.

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine offers 6-year Master’s degree program, Veterinary Medicine.

Program includes the following groups of disciplines: basic disciplines (biology, chemistry) animal breeding (animal nutrition, animal husbandry, animal hygiene) preclinical disciplines (anatomy, histology, embryology, physiology, pathological anatomy, pathological physiology, microbiology, immunology, parasitology , genetics, pharmacology, toxicology and epidemiology) clinical disciplines (diseases of dogs, cats, horses, cattle and small ruminants, swine, poultry, fish, bees and exotic animals, infectious diseases) forensic medicine nutrition hygiene.

Program includes a wide variety of veterinary medicine aspects, but it is strongly oriented towards diagnostics, therapy and prevention of diseases of various types of animals.

Graduates are awarded with the title of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (MVDr).

Admission exams consist of tests in biology and chemistry.

Applicants are also required to provide a medical confirmation of physical and mental abilities to study at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

Faculty of Pharmacy

The Faculty of Pharmacy offers a 5-year Master’s program, Pharmaceuticals.

Program includes the following groups of disciplines: basic disciplines (biology, chemistry) human health pharmaceutical disciplines (natural drugs, chemical drugs, drug technology, pharmacology and toxicology and social pharmacy)

The students of the Faculty of Pharmacy gain knowledge in the field of drugs, technological processing and symptomatic actions of drugs.

Admission exams consist of tests in biology, chemistry and physics.

Acceptance of applications: until February 29.

Faculty of Veterinary Hygiene and Ecology

The Faculty of Pharmacy offers a 6-year Master’s program, Veterinary Hygiene and Ecology.

Admission exams consist of tests in biology and chemistry.

Acceptance of applications: until March 15

The Faculty of Pharmacy offers also 3-year Bachelor’s program:

• Food Safety and Quality (applicants are admitted without exams, on the basis of overall grade point average)

• Animal Protection and Welfare (admission exam consist of test in biology)

Graduates may continue the study in the follow-up 2-year Master’s program:

• Food Safety and Quality

• Animal Protection and Welfare

Admission exams consist of test in the major subject in a scope of corresponding Bachelor’s program.
